Market

A prestigious market town, Diss offers a variety of Markets.
Every Friday a traditional market is held in the town with a great diversity of wares for sale in the Market Place and along Market Hill. Gone are the cattle markets, but in their place are stalls selling everything from locally produced fruit & veg, and specialist fine cheeses to Country clothes, nighties and other domestic and garden products – as well as the best chips either side of the border!

Youngmans chips have been selling from Diss Market for over 100 years and many of our stallholders have been traders in Diss for over 40 years or more. The friendly familiar faces are welcoming to all on market day but you can also buy mobile phones, car parts, cakes, hardware and fresh Lowestoft fish.

Diss market is a place to mardle, soak up the atmosphere, hunt for bargains on the bric-a-brac stalls, fill the larder and feel part of a vibrant local community.

On the 2nd Saturday of every month the Diss Farmer's Market is at the Market Place from 9am to 1pm.  This is the place to buy locally produced food direct from the producers: vegetables grown for flavour and with minimal chemicals, beef and pork, free range eggs, home made fudge, apples and apple juice, jams, pickles and cakes, preserves, shrubs, crafts and more.  There is now an active support group that organises live music and a raffle and keeps the atmosphere lively.

Diss Town Council together with Diss Community Partnerhsip supports the Farmers Market as part of the Diss Cittaslow programme.  The Farmer's Market is supported by a grant from the Broads & Rivers LEADER+ programme and the European Union.

On the first & third Saturday of each month you will find the fleamarket stalls set out in the Market place. Here you can rummage through bric-a-brac, books and old treasures to find your bargain. Music is often provided by local bands and everyone enjoys the atmosphere.
