The Park
The Park is an open space for the enjoyment of all, but may also be used to provide a special environment for festivals, open air events and charity fundraising. If your own event would be enhanced by this wonderful location, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
A new and exciting play equipment scheme was installed in the summer of 2009 which has proved extremely popular. The Toddler area is protected by a circular fence while the junior area includes equipment specifically aimed to be different and challenging but inclusive. Both of these areas are themed relevant to the nearby body of water, known as The Mere, which makes up the unique central focus at the heart of the town, which Diss Park adjoins.
A separate area is planned dedicated area for teenagers providing a five a side pitch/basketball area, aerial space net and upgrading of the existing youth shelter to include solar powered radio and lighting.
All three areas will be linked by new paths, which will join up with existing, and adequate seating will be provided throughout the scheme to better accommodate parents/carers.
The Pavilion
Beside Diss Mere, the Park Pavilion provides a striking purpose-designed location for the presentation of open-air drama and music. The impressive variety of amateur and professional entertainment staged in the Park has included folk, pop, jazz and classical concerts, plus a wide spectrum of dramatic performances. Landscaped seating in this delightful lakeside setting can accommodate an audience of 300 or more.
The Park Pavilion has excellent acoustics and a covered performance area for up to 35 players. Ample car parking is nearby and the Park Kiosk can be opened by arrangement to serve light refreshments. Musicians, drama groups, clubs and voluntary organisations who wish to stage a memorable event at the Park Pavilion should contact the Council for more information.
