The Chimpo Skateboard & BMX Park

The Park is named in memory of a local young man, James “Chimpo” Halil a friend of many of the young people involved in the project, who was killed in a road accident in 2003 and funded by Diss Town Council, Roydon Parish Council, Diss Surveyors Allotment Charities, South Norfolk Council and La Rue Skateboard and BMX Club.

New lights were installed at the Park in the summer of 2010. The lighting, which will enable keen skateboarders and BMX riders to continue with their sport on darker evenings has been funded by Norfolk Constabulary in partnership with South Norfolk Council and Diss Town Council.
Local company A Waterfield & Sons Ltd from Scole carried out the ground works for this project free of charge and were assisted by young skateboarder volunteers.

The Park is open from 8am every day and is located at the Sports Ground, Shelfanger Road.  Young people are reminded that suitable protective pads and helmets should be worn all at all times.
